Understanding insurance agent data by state

Why address state, resident licenses, and nonresident licenses tell different stories.

Geography is a field, not a guarantee

Our packs are grouped by the state in the address field. This is a useful way to organize outreach geographically, but it should not be confused with a comprehensive census of active licenses issued by that state.

A producer can appear in several source systems

The dataset combines records from the Florida, Texas, Iowa, Louisiana, Vermont, Nevada, and Mississippi licensing files and from the NAIC State Based Systems lookup, which covers about 30 more jurisdictions. Producers represented in those sources can have addresses across all 50 states. Coverage nationwide does not mean that we directly collected every state regulator’s database.

Build the right segment for your goal

For a geographic campaign, use address state and city. For a licensing question, inspect the license number, source authority, and reported status. For product fit, inspect lines of authority and the life/health and property/casualty flags. Confirm any consequential licensing decision against the issuing authority.
